Beauty Tips: How I Take Care of My Lips
I've always noticed that my lips will start forming a while film of dry skin after a couple of hours of putting a lipstick, a lip matte or even a lip balm on. It's kind of embarrassing to have it and when people notice it, most of the time, they don't point it out to you because they know it's embarrassing. To point ot out to someone who has it is like feeling guilty for humiliating that person.
Anyway, back to my lip story. I wouldn't say that I have severe chapped lips. Some days, my lips feel moist, some days they don't. And I am the type of girl who loves lipsticks. I have 2 full drawers of whatever kind of lip cosmetics; lipsticks, velvety lip mattes, lip tints, lip balms, lip primers, lip gloss, lip plumper, you name it (although, the shades of my choices don't seem to range far from each other, well, mostly, they are nudes). Okay, I'm a lip addict! So, it's really frustrating when my lips keep forming that white layer of dry skin, you know.
So I started to google on home remedies and beauty DIYs on lip care. Honestly, I've tried one lip scrub formula a couple of years back. But it didn't stick. It worked but just didn't stick long enough as a habit. The recipe for this formula is quite simple:
1 tsp of olive oil
3 tsp of sugar
A few drops of lemon juice/essential oil
Now, this formula gives you that luscious lips effect that you've been dreaming of. Like I said, it did work one me. I was just lazy enough to make it stick as a routine. But why, though? There must be something that put me off to even bother to continue using that remedy, right? I know I'm the kind of person who gets pretty excited with something if I really like everything about it; the ingredients, the process, the results. I did get the result I was hoping for, my lips were fuller and not dry anymore. Fuller must be from the lemon, I guess BUT, when I didn't scrub my lips, they would form that white film of dry skin again! And I thought to myself, "I have to keep scrubbing every day?" Kind of a hassle, don't you think? I was okay to scrub twice a week, but not everyday!
So recently, I decided to look for other formula and found one. Here's the formula, super easy:
1tsp of honey
3 tsp of sugar (I used brown sugar)
When I started scrubbing my lips with this formula, I've finally found the holy grail to my lip care! Now I know why I didn't stick to the first formula. This newly found one, I prefer using honey compared to olive oil because honey sticks the sugars together better than olive oil. Well yeah, of course, duh! Honey is like thick glue! so when I was applying it onto my lips, he sugars didn't fall anywhere as I was scrubbing away! It just stays and clumps together on my lips. So I got really excited because it's mess-free!
So there you have it. I have now found the lip care I've been looking for and I've made it into my routine of scrubbing at least 3 times a week. It's super cost-effective, mess-free and makes my lips more pinkish, smooth and luscious! Because of the scrubbing effect, it makes my lips fuller and I'm loving the smooth-gliding effect when I apply anything on my lips.
So here's a video of my demo, enjoy!💋
